I feel kinda stupid.Poor old truck just keeps getting beat and pounded on without ever getting any real work done to it.Coming home last night I heard a noise in the front end so I checked and found a loose right front wheel.I should know better, aluminum rims have to be checked on a regular basis.Tightened wheel nuts and the wheel was still loose so I pulled it back off and started looking around.Wheel bearings were shot,R/F u-joint had spit out the caps, both tie rod ends and the draglink were way beyond worn out.Soooo tonight I started taking everything apart and also found the inner spindle bearings were shot.Replaced all bearings with new and put some used(but in very good condition)front end parts in,as well as taking the locking hubs apart, cleaning and reassembling with clean grease.Tomorrow morning I will reinstall the wheels and do an alignment, then change the oil (going to use synthetic) and filter and the I have to go cut a xmas tree.Maybe I will not let it go so long before I look under the old girl next time.MAYBE.

I notice he mentioned about checkin fluids in his beast maybe I should remind him of that on a regular basis until it gets done. (NAG NAG NAG)
maybe he'll do an oil change in my DD too!

I found the same thing last week when i was checking the bronco over for inspection, i didn't think there could be that much mud in a spindle and hub. Wheel bearings were shot ,seal was the cause but she's fixed up now.

Don't feel bad , i put my brother in law in the hospital for 2 days with a severe concussion when he banged his head off the rollbar in my old ramcharger ! I wasn't allowed to wheel for almost 4 month's until my wife figured i had learned my lesson. unsure.gif

Been chasing a suspension noise and finally had some time to get under the X this weekend. Was easy to find as my wife rocked the X side to side I could see where the stabilizer bar end was loose. No problem - I'll just tighten it.... then comes the aw crap moment as the socket slips around the nut. 17mm nut 17mm socket - what the hell. Well I figure it's tight and I'm going to replace the end anyway so I'll leave it for Monday.

BTW while putting the tire back on the key for the locking lug nuts broke. Good times.
So today, new set of locking lug nuts and new key and dealer actually had a master set so the old ones came off no problem AND the dealer actually had a right side stabilizer bar end in stock for a mere $24! So I'm in business right? - wrong, remember the rounded nut? We;; for something that was loose on Saturday is sure the hell was tight on Monday. (reminds me of something when I was single and hitting the bars on the weekend...now what would that be??) Anyway after much BS I'm left with nothing but the grinder option. Not to keen on this as I have to grind away in a tight spot up against the lower control arm. Fortunately Santa was looking out for me and I slice that nut nice and thin without hitting the LCA or anything else. That sounds like it only took a minute, it didn't. Don't want to talk about it. Now I tap the end out and lo and behold what do I find jammed under the bar end but a quarter sized rock that is wedged between the bracket and bar end and likely contributing to the harsh banging that had me thinking the coil over had failed. Damn. Anyway, road test done all is good and quiet and working like it should. Now who wants to go wheeling??

Further to my last, seems like the bar end was a symptom or just coincidence. I think I have a bum shock. Have to send it off for warranty once I confirm by putting my OEM coils and shocks back in. Really sucks and more so as I only installed these in Aug. Hope it is a one off instance and not a poor design issue. Coil overs are by Radflo in the USA.
